In some capacity, I’ve been working on this album (my 7th) since I left Chicago to attend grad school in Idaho in 2015. Some of these songs come from that time, others are far newer. This one took longer than usual due to grad school, the pandemic, and the geographical locations of the band members. In my mind, it’s the best album we’ve made, and I’m proud of it. That’s in no small part thanks to Daniel Johnson’s beautiful production and the tasty musical contributions of Rodrigo Palma (bass) and Charles Koltak (drums). It sounds and feels on a different plane than my previous records (in the best of ways), though is probably more uniquely me than I could have hoped for. I’m excited for you to hear it and to have it in your life.
We’ve started the Indiegogo campaign to raise funds to press the limited-run of The Widow Cameron on vinyl, as well as help finance remaining costs from recording, mixing, and mastering. Due to the album’s length, 63 minutes, this will be a double album adventure. We will initially press a run of 230 LPs in full-color jackets with DL card + lyric and poetry broadside inserts. As you likely know, the production and turnaround time for vinyl is currently quite backlogged. We’re looking at vinyl shipping out in late-spring of 2023. We’re working with the good folks at Chicago’s Smashed Plastic for the pressing. My partner-in-crime Andy Whorehall has designed all the artwork as he has for the last decade plus.
